Early Bird Alert on Nicholas Day. On 6.12.2016 the kickstarter campaign for the Raspiboy will start. Sounds like Raspberry Pi. So this should be worth a preview of the story.

The Raspiboy is actually a small Raspberry Pi. More specifically, a Raspberry Pi Zero. This is combined with an interface board, a display, a few buttons and a battery quickly to a Game Boy emulation station.

As it seems, 8b craft will be primarily offering the Raspiboy as a kit. But do not worry, you do not need any experience in SMD soldering. Rather, we have to do with a plug-in kit, which is also easy for the non-electronics technician to put together. Just have a look at the video. The assembly looks really quite simple. Reminds me a little of the assembly of a toy from a surprise egg. Only without chocolate.

Since the makers of the analog bike computer Omata have been silencing since July, it is nevertheless nice that now with the Moskito Smartwatch / Bike computer a new concept is preparing it’s launch.

So that you can spontaneously prepare on it, I would like to give a first outlook. Unfortunately, many technical data are not expected until Monday. But the pictures, which already exist, look very sexy.

The Moskito is actually a device with two application areas. On the one hand, we are dealing with a Smartwatch. However, since the Moskito is only completely based on an analog pointer display, one can assume that the Smartwatch functions will be more limited to vibration alerts for incoming messages and calls. A paired smartphone provided of course.

And again another nonsense of the week candidate: Tonbo, the flying fan drone.

Anyone who has ever let fly a drone will have noticed that they are blowing a lot of air. Ok, this is also not a big surprise for anyone who does not have a drone yet.

This air must also be used, the ladies and gentlemen of: Dsin thought and so Tonbo was invented. We have  at first sight a common drone. Only the cable to which Tonbo flies differs him from his unexpected relatives.

Tonbo on the leash

The idea is actually very simple. Tonbo floats over the owner’s head on hot days like a tethered balloon. The exhaust air of the rotors then provides a pleasant wind. The cable has two reasons. On the one hand, Tonbo can not run away, and on the other hand, he does not hit the head after five minutes. How big the Powerbank is in the backpack is left to your own.

Back something for your back – VERTEPAC backpack own spine

Once we have looked recently at the Bobby backpack it’s worth to take a look at another, completely different backpack concept. While Bobby stands for the safety of your backpack contents, the makers of VERTEPAC have more the safety of you own back in focus.

Basically, backpacks have not really developed in the last 1000 years. Ok, eventually someone came up with the idea that a waist belt could be good for the comfort. Nevertheless, most of the load lasts usually still somehow on your shoulders. And even if you have your backpack properly adjusted and the weight is carried by the hip, it is still limitating the freedom of movement due to the two carriers.

No dark side of the moon – MOON, the detailed moon globe

Not only since Pink Floyd we all wondered what can be found on the dark side of the moon. Ok, if the  Nazis established their hidden base there, we will probably not experience with MOON, the highly detailed lunar globe. But at least it gives us an as yet not seen view at the moon and so, it is not made of cheese.

Moon globes themselves are nothing new. Most, however, are representative of the flat variety. That was so far rather unspectacular. Only the light play of shadows around the crater should wring the necessary dose of fascination to the non-astronomers.

A safe one – Bobby, the anti-theft backpack

(image: kickstarter/© XD Design)

Well,  backpacks actually does not really often be innovative. Somehow you’ve seen it all before. From solar panel or hardcase solutions there is already everything. Somewhere I had even seen a backpack with electric drive. Did not look very practical. Why do I now report about the Bobby backpack from XD Design?

Individually seen for themselves the features that the Bobby offers, certainly art not at all innovations that beats one out of the socks. But the bag is a really good combination of features coupled with great design. That’s good, because in my opinion there is no unique killer feature that makes a backpack a great product. A complete package of features wins here and Bobby could have managed this.
